Mumbai: In a significant development ahead of the Assembly elections, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis discussed set sharing pact with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray, claimed sources on Monday.
The discussion between these three leaders that lasted for two hours took place in a five star hotel in Bandra late Sunday night.
According to the source, the three leaders discussed Shivdi, Worli, Mahim and some other seats of Mumbai. “It is possible that the Mahayuti may support MNS candidates in these three constituencies in lieu of its support in other constituencies,” the source said.
The MNS is reportedly considering to field Amit Thackeray (son of Raj) from Mahim, Sandeep Deshpande from Worli and Bala Nandgaonkar from Shivadi.
Raj Thackeray has announced that his party will go solo in the Assembly election. He also has claimed that the MNS will be in such a position that the new government could not take shape without its support.
Meanwhile, Raj Thackeray has announced that the MNS’ lone MLA Pramod aka Raju Patil will contest again from Kalyan (West). An MNS leader Avinash Jadhav will be a candidate from Thane constituency. Interestingly, the BJP has already fielded its outgoing MLA Sanjay Kelkar from Thane.
If the Mahayuti decides to back the MNS in certain constituencies that will make the MNS to back the Mahayuti candidates in rest of Mumbai and Thane.
